The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the official notification for the Hindi Translator, Junior Translator, and Senior Hindi Translator Examination 2025. This recruitment is being conducted for various ministries and government departments under the Government of India. The online application process has already started from 5 June 2025, and the last date to apply is 25 June 2025 up to 11 PM. Candidates interested in language-based government jobs have a great opportunity to apply for Group B posts through this competitive examination.
The recruitment includes posts of Junior Hindi Translator (JHT), Junior Translator, and Senior Hindi Translator (SHT). All these are Group B posts with attractive pay levels. The Junior Translator and Junior Hindi Translator posts are under Pay Level 6, which means a starting salary of ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400, while Senior Hindi Translator is under Pay Level 7, offering a pay scale of ₹44,900 to ₹1,42,400.
To be eligible for these posts, candidates must hold a Master’s Degree in Hindi or English with English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject, along with a Diploma or Certificate in translation from Hindi to English and vice versa, or at least two years of experience in translation work in Central or State Government. The age limit for all posts is 18 to 30 years as on 1 August 2025, with relaxation for SC, ST, OBC, PwD, Ex-servicemen, and other categories as per government norms.
The selection process includes two papers. Paper 1 will be a Computer Based Test (CBT) scheduled for 6 October 2025, and will include objective-type questions on General Hindi and General English, each of 100 marks. Paper 2 will be a descriptive paper, where candidates will be tested on translation and essay writing. This will be conducted later for candidates who qualify in Paper 1. Final selection will be based on the combined performance in both papers.
The application fee is ₹100 for General and OBC candidates, while women candidates and those belonging to SC, ST, PwD, and Ex-servicemen categories are exempted from paying any fee. The fee must be paid through online modes only. Applicants must ensure that they submit the online form well before the deadline to avoid last-minute issues. Corrections in the application form, if any, can be made during the correction window from 26 to 27 June 2025.
The SSC has clarified that admit cards for Paper 1 will be released region-wise on the respective SSC regional websites. All updates related to exam schedule, admit cards, answer keys, and results will be published only on the official SSC portals. Candidates are advised to keep checking their registered email and the official website regularly.
This examination is a great opportunity for language scholars and translators to secure a respected and well-paying government job under various central ministries.
