The Supreme Court of India (SCI) has invited online applications for recruitment to the posts of Senior Court Assistant-cum-Senior Programmer and Junior Court Assistant-cum-Junior Programmer. This recruitment is being conducted for a total of 26 vacancies, which includes 6 posts of Senior Programmer and 20 posts of Junior Programmer. The registration process has started from 6 June 2025 and the last date to apply online is 27 June 2025 till 11:55 PM.
The post of Senior Court Assistant-cum-Senior Programmer is placed under Pay Level 8, starting with a basic salary of ₹47,600 plus allowances, while the post of Junior Court Assistant-cum-Junior Programmer falls under Pay Level 6, with an initial basic pay of ₹35,400 plus allowances. Both posts are categorized as Group B Non-Gazetted.
For the Senior Programmer post, candidates must have either BE/BTech in Computer Science or IT with 6 years of experience, or MCA/M.Sc. in Computer Science with 6 years’ experience, or B.Sc. in Computer Science or BCA with at least 60% marks and 7 years’ experience. A Law degree will be considered an additional qualification. The age limit for this post is 18 to 35 years, with relaxation for reserved categories and Supreme Court employees as per rules.
For the Junior Programmer post, the required qualification is BE/BTech/BCA/B.Sc. in Computer Science or IT from a recognized university. The age limit for this post is 18 to 30 years, with the same relaxation rules as mentioned above.
The selection process for both posts will include four stages. First, there will be an Objective Type Written Test that covers General English, General Awareness, Reasoning, and Quantitative Aptitude. Second, candidates will face a Technical Aptitude Test, also in objective format. Those who qualify will be called for a Practical Aptitude Test, and finally, shortlisted candidates will appear for an Interview. The qualifying marks for each stage is 50 percent, and candidates will be shortlisted in a 10:1 ratio for the practical test and 3:1 ratio for the interview.
The exams will be conducted in five cities—Delhi/NCR, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru. Applicants must select two preferences for exam centers, although changes may be made due to administrative reasons.
The application fee is ₹1000 for General and OBC candidates, and ₹250 for SC, ST, Ex-servicemen, PwBD, and dependents of freedom fighters, plus bank charges. The fee must be paid online only through the payment gateway provided by UCO Bank, and no other mode of payment will be accepted.
Candidates are advised to fill their application forms carefully, upload all required documents, and preview their form before final submission. No changes will be allowed after final submission. Admit cards will not be sent by post. Candidates must download them from the Supreme Court’s official website when notified. It is also important to keep a valid email ID and phone number active for receiving updates throughout the recruitment process.
The Supreme Court has also clearly mentioned that qualifying in the test and interview does not guarantee appointment. Final selection will be based on merit and availability of posts, and the Registry reserves the right to shortlist or modify the recruitment process as necessary.
