The Joint CSIR-UGC NET June 2025 examination is scheduled to be held in computer-based test (CBT) mode across various cities in India. This exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of CSIR and UGC to determine the eligibility of candidates for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor appointment, and admission to Ph.D. programs in Indian universities and research institutions.
The online registration for the exam will start from 3rd June 2025 and the last date to submit applications is 23rd June 2025. Candidates must pay the examination fee by 24th June 2025. After the registration process, candidates will be able to download their admit cards from the official NTA website. The exam dates are set for 26th, 27th, and 28th July 2025. Exact timings and exam centers will be mentioned in the admit card.
Candidates applying for this exam should carefully check the eligibility criteria, which require a minimum percentage in the master’s degree or equivalent exam—55% for General category and 50% for reserved categories. Those pursuing their final year or awaiting results may also apply but will be considered eligible only after fulfilling the required marks within the stipulated time. There is no upper age limit for Assistant Professor or Ph.D. admission, but the age limit for JRF is 30 years with relaxations for certain categories.
The exam will include objective-type multiple-choice questions divided into three parts, covering general aptitude, subject-related knowledge, and higher-order scientific problem-solving questions. The subjects include Chemical Sciences, Earth Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, and Physical Sciences. The test will be bilingual—English and Hindi—and candidates can choose their preferred medium.
Candidates with disabilities are provided special facilities such as scribes and compensatory time as per government guidelines. Detailed instructions on application, exam day conduct, and prohibited items are provided by the NTA and must be strictly followed.
The fee structure varies by category, with General candidates paying ₹1150 and reserved categories paying less. The application process is fully online, and candidates must upload scanned images of their photograph, signature, and other relevant certificates as required.
It is important to note that candidates must provide correct information during registration and that any discrepancies may lead to disqualification. The admit card must be carried to the exam center along with a valid photo ID. Late arrivals or possession of prohibited items like electronic gadgets will not be tolerated and can result in cancellation of candidature.
This exam is a critical opportunity for aspiring researchers and academics to advance their careers. Careful preparation and adherence to all official guidelines will help candidates perform their best in the Joint CSIR-UGC NET June 2025 examination.
